Introduction

Entry to this NDT training site is only available to participants of the refresher course to prepare for NDT level III examinations. Courses will be conducted in Chennai, India from 22 November to 17 December 2008 (Sequence ET, VT, PT, MT, RT, Basic, UT). Exams are held at different locations and are conducted by ASNT, the next one in India will be held in Chennai, May 2008. After registering for the desired methods and submitting the course fees, we will give access to this site. The purpose of this site is to bring the prerequisite knowledge of the participants to a common level before starting on the course. The refresher course requires your presence in Chennai. The material on this site is not meant to replace classroom teaching.

General information on the Refresher Course
The purpose of the refresher courses offered by QNET, SAFETI and OP-Tech is to review NDT methods, processes, standards and  certification to enable the participants to pass the qualifying exams, which are conducted by outside agencies.

Course Content
The language of instruction is ENGLISH. The course consists of lectures, projections, internet resources including the use of audio and visual  aids. Great emphasis is placed on problem solving and calculations as required for the exams. Everyday we go through a mock examination of about 30 minutes to one hour which is conducted in the same way as the  ASNT level III. During our interactive sessions, there is ample time for clarifying the participants' questions. Codes and standards for different industries are covered to the extent required for level III exams.

Faculty
We strive for excellence and competence in our professional training. Each refresher course method is coordinated by a course director who is an expert in the respective field.
The lectures are delivered by NDT practitioners, engineers, scientists and researchers of Government organisations, private R&D organizations, the Center for Non Destructive Evaluation, Indian Institute of Technology. Visiting Faculty  from manufacturing, process industries and academics, like from Anna University, department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science are giving presentations.

Practicals on request
Although for level III preparations it is not required  to have any practical part, our previous participants found it useful to see demonstrations using industrial NDT equipment. Many computerised and digital instruments are available in the QNET laboratory the same building the classes will be held. For special methods, thermography, radiography, vibration analysis, on special request on  a day other than the course day, we can arrange a trip to a laboratory in Chennai where these methods are practiced.

Important Note We do not offer certification of any level - but will issue a participation and training certificate on successful completion of the refresher course. Examination and Certification is done by ASNT - You have to apply to ASNT / ISNT to process your application.

Visa - for Foreign Participants
If you are not an Indian national or already living in India, you will require a valid passport and visa to enter the country to attend the course. Generally, a tourist visa is sufficient for a stay up to 3 months.
For citizens of some countries, the Indian government has certain registration requirements.
We can issue an invitation letter to attend our courses after your eligibility has been established.

Travel to Chennai
Chennai is well connected by road, train and air. The training venue is about 5 km North of the Chennai Domestic and International Airport and about 10 km South of Chennai Central and Egmore Railway Station. The Central Bus Terminus of Chennai is at the Koembedu Market, which is only 5 km North of the venue.

Food
During the course, we provide tea, coffee and snacks and plenty of drinking water. Lunch is optional on a chargeable basis. We can order lunch according to your preference which will be delivered at the training venue.

Before the course - this website is to help you prepare for the course. The background and experience of the participants differ widely. The site attempts to bring the information and knowledge of the participants to a uniform level. Note that this internet offer is not a replacement for the actual refresher course.

After the course - before the exam
The training site will be available till the scheduled examination date.
